Tying the knot in lockdown requires better connectivity

The minimony, micro wedding has become a pandemic trend - one of the biggest disappointments over the last year has been the inability to celebrate special moments.

Virtual weddings seem to have become the norm, but what do you do when you are in a rural location with very poor to no connectivity?

That was the challenge posed to Voneus, one of the largest rural broadband providers in the UK, by their client Delyth Parry from South Wales.

Due to the Government’s COVID guidelines, Delyth could only invite 30 people to her daughter's wedding. The connectivity outside her farm was very poor, which meant that many family and friends would miss out on the big day.

She asked Voneus for help, and they took on the challenge head-on.

“Delyth’s issue struck a chord for us. We're all about connecting those who struggle to get access to good broadband. Delyth is an existing customer; we decided to show our support and provide her with an external WiFi solution for free,” revealed Vicki Williams, Customer Advisor at Voneus.

The Government-approved broadband provider constructed a temporary solution in Delyth’s farm that enabled guests to stay connected and, more importantly, allowed loved ones to attend the wedding remotely.

“The temporary external WiFi installation gave us peace of mind knowing that family and friends with us on the day were able to stay connected to their extended family and friends who could not attend. We were also able to organise taxis back to the nearest town as we are so rural,” said Ffion and Jack, the bride and groom.

All in all, a successful day, a happily married couple and a satisfied customer.

“Voneus has been reliable from the start giving us confidence throughout the pandemic. In a word, I would say they are efficient,” said Delyth Parry.
